Program Information

Become a part of our vibrant healthcare community.
Completing a practicum placement within the NWT allows students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work and develop skills in remote, community and acute care settings within the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA), the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority (HRHSSA) and, the Tlicho Community Services Agency (TCSA), while providing healthcare services to the unique and diverse population these communities serve.
Practicum Placements are initiated as part of program requirements through an academic or technical institution, in which a student needs to complete a set number of hours to show competence to achieve a designation or graduate certificate.
The NWT HSS System has partnered with a number of academic and technical institutions through Practicum Placement Agreements, allowing students from all over Canada to experience what it is like to work, and live in the north.
